During the EVO lineup reveal from last night, we learned that BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle would be among the titles showcased at EVO 2018 in Las Vegas this year, though the game itself is not scheduled for release until May 31st for Japan and June 5th for North America. Thus, the game will have been available for around two months before making the round trip back to EVO, after its initial reveal during the EVO 2017 finals last year.
In addition to this piece of news, Toshimichi Mori, producer for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle at ArcSystemWorks, dropped a brief trailer that revealed some surprising information regarding the first two DLC characters for the game, both of which are coming from the RWBY universe: Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long. Belladonna’s inclusion was previously confirmed in mid-January, but Yang Xiao Long’s addition was a highly welcome piece of news.
Could this get any better? Oh, but it can! Both characters will be free to download and play once they are made available.
Team RWBY is now complete! Both Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long will be joining the roster of #BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle for all players at no charge! You can't break up the dream team. #BBTAG pic.twitter.com/VcYRB1LXPq

What could have brought about this plot twist? More than likely, this is ArcSystem’s answer to the outrage expressed by players once the initial lineup for the tag fighter was confirmed to be set to forty characters, with half of that amount being reserved for DLC characters. This decision will definitely ease financial burdens for players looking to assemble the whole roster once they have access to the game. Of course, this begs the question of who else will be confirmed for DLC and who else will be free to download.
The full trailer confirming this revelation can be seen below.
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will be made available later in the year for Playstation 4, PC and – get ready for this – the Nintendo Switch! It joins two more of ArcSystem’s titles, DragonBall FighterZ and Guilty Gear XRD Revelator 2, at EVO 2018 in August 3-5, 2018!
