ELEAGUE bans Raiden from the Injustice 2 World Championship

Today, ELEAGUE made a statement regarding the newest addition to the Injustice 2 roster, Raiden. Since the game launched, it’s been traditional to ban the new characters from tournament play for at least one month after they enter the game via DLC. In the case of ELEAGUE, this ruling will stand for the entirety of the Injustice 2 World Championship, including the Last Chance Qualifier coming up in two weeks from tomorrow.

All other characters, including Black Manta, remain legal for ELEAGUE.

As of October 3rd, registration for the LCQ opened up via their official website. Head over to this page to get your ticket and earn yourself a chance to qualify for the World Championship! The Top 2 players from the LCQ will join fourteen other competitors in a sixteen-man bracket where the winner will be crowned the Injustice 2 World Champion!

The LCQ will occur in Atlanta at The Garage at Tech Square on October 21, 2017. Participants will be required to check in between 10 A.M. Eastern Time and 11:30 A.M. Matches are set to launch at noon that day.

Spectators do not require a ticket, but they will be asked to check in at the registration window, and seats will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. For those who cannot attend, you will be able to follow the event via ELEAGUE’s social media pages, such as their YouTube channel. Additionally, matches from the World Championship will be broadcast live via the TBS network.

On a side-note, comic book enthusiasts will want to keep an eye out for a limited reprint of the first issue for the Injustice 2 comic, which actually includes the logos for TBS and ELEAGUE on the front cover!

The final bracket for the World Championship will consist of sixteen players, fourteen of which have already qualified via the following events:

  • Top 8 in the Injustice 2 Pro Series Finals
  • Top 2 in Gamestop’s Hometown Heroes
  • Top 2 in ESL’s Liga Latina circuit
  • Top 2 in ESL’s Path to Pro series

The last two will consist of the Top 2 from ELEAGUE’s LCQ bracket.
